About AXA UK Ventures
AXA UK Ventures sits inside one of the largest insurance groups in the world and invests with a clear strategic objective: back digital health, telemedicine, and Health IT companies that can plug into AXA’s insurance and assistance products globally. For physician AI founders building triage, virtual care, claims-adjacent decision support, or care navigation tools, AXA is one of the few corporate investors whose distribution can change a startup’s commercial trajectory.
The thesis is concentrated on digital health triage, telemedicine, mental health, chronic care management, and software platforms that improve the customer experience and clinical efficiency inside insurance and assistance flows. AI/ML tools that automate triage, support clinicians during virtual consultations, or extract structured data from clinical documents are squarely in scope. Hardware, biotech, and pure life sciences are not the focus. Founders whose product can be embedded into a payer or assistance workflow, or sold as a B2B2C feature inside an insurance offering, will find the most natural conversation here.
Check sizes typically range from one to five million dollars at Series A and Series B, often as part of a syndicate with a lead financial investor. AXA’s contribution is usually a mix of capital, commercial pull through AXA Partners and other group entities, and access to claims and clinical data partnerships within applicable regulatory limits. Geography is global, with strong activity in the UK, France, and other European markets where AXA has insurance operations.
The investment team works closely with AXA’s UK operating businesses and AXA Partners, which means due diligence covers commercial, technical, regulatory, and data privacy dimensions. The process tends to be slower than a pure financial VC, but the upside is genuine commercial alignment if the partnership lands.
The right way to approach is through an existing AXA operating leader who already wants to use your product, an introduction from a portfolio CEO, or a recognised European digital health advisor. Cold approaches without an operational sponsor inside AXA usually do not advance. Lead with your distribution thesis: how does your product show up inside an insurance or assistance journey, what is the unit economics impact for the carrier, and where are existing live deployments, even outside AXA. The right time to engage is when you have a Series A in motion led by a financial VC and a clearly defined commercial use case AXA can underwrite. Pre-product founders, or those without a payer-friendly business model, will get further with seed-stage and digital health-specialist funds first and revisit AXA once the commercial wedge is mature.
