Bradesco’s investment arm focusing on startups that can modernize the bank’s insurance and health offerings.

About Inovabra Ventures

Inovabra Ventures is the corporate venture arm of Bradesco, one of Brazil’s largest financial groups, investing into startups that can modernize the bank’s insurance, health insurance (Bradesco Saude), and broader financial services offerings. The fund writes Series A and Series B checks in the $1M to $5M range and operates with a pragmatic strategic-financial mandate: returns matter, but pilots, partnerships, and go-to-market integration with Bradesco business units are how most checks get justified internally. For healthcare and AI founders, the relevant surfaces are payer-side analytics, fraud detection in claims, telemedicine and care navigation that can be embedded into Bradesco Saude member experiences, hospital network management software, value-based care infrastructure, and AI underwriting and pricing for life and health insurance products. Founders building biotech, consumer wellness, or care delivery brick-and-mortar should approach a different vehicle. The right candidate has either a working pilot with a Brazilian operadora, a credible plan to land one within two quarters, or a technical edge in claims, actuarial AI, or population health that the bank’s insurance arm cannot easily build. Geographic positioning is the obvious advantage. Bradesco Saude touches a meaningful slice of Brazilian commercial health insurance lives, and integration into that ecosystem is genuinely valuable distribution. The flip side is that strategic CVCs at this scale move at the cadence of the parent’s annual planning cycle, deal teams are professional but procurement and IT integration are slow, and exclusivity language can drift into draft term sheets if not negotiated early. Best entry is through Inovabra’s hub at Cidade de Deus in Osasco, the bank’s open-innovation programs, or a warm referral from a portfolio CEO who has actually closed a Bradesco commercial contract. Cold-emailing the investment team without a Bradesco business sponsor is a low-yield path. In the pitch, lead with which Bradesco business line you make money or save money for, name the executive sponsor you have already met, and quantify the pilot. Be explicit about data residency, LGPD posture, and how you handle PHI flowing across systems, because the bank’s risk and compliance review will determine deal velocity more than your growth slides. Caveats: negotiate hard on right-of-first-refusal, exclusivity, and any MFN provisions, since later-round leads will scrutinize these. Confirm whether the check is balance-sheet or fund-structured, since governance and follow-on behavior diverge between the two. Finally, model the realistic enterprise sales cycle. Bradesco can be a transformative customer, but a startup that bets the company on closing one strategic contract within a single quarter usually misses the budget and runs short of cash before the deal lands.
