SPARK Innovation Fund

The SPARK Innovation Fund is the commercialization vehicle of King’s College London, designed to catapult internal academic research into viable spinouts. Operating from the university in London, the fund provides proof-of-concept and pre-seed capital to King’s-affiliated researchers and emerging companies in biotech, deep tech, and digital health, bridging the gap between grant-funded science and external venture capital. SPARK writes Pre-Seed checks under $250k, typically combined with grant funding, university IP licensing arrangements, and downstream introductions to UK seed funds. Eligibility is essentially limited to King’s College London researchers, students, and spinouts using King’s IP, so geographic and institutional fit is the gating criterion.

Founders inside the King’s ecosystem should engage through the university’s tech transfer and commercialization office, which manages the application pipeline.
