Tortus AI provides an ambient voice technology (AVT) solution designed to capture and process clinical consultations, automatically generating structured notes, letters, and referrals. It aims to reduce documentation burden for clinicians, allowing them to focus more on direct patient care. The system is deployed across various NHS settings, from A&E to mental health, and has processed over 2.5 million consultations to date.

A key feature of Tortus AI is its proprietary clinical safety system, ‘The Shell’, which verifies every statement against the consultation audio, removing unsupported or hallucinated content before it reaches the clinician. This system has demonstrated a significant reduction in major hallucinations, as validated by peer-reviewed research. The platform integrates with major NHS EPR systems, as well as X-On and Avaya telephony services, streamlining the workflow from audio capture to EHR filing.

Tortus AI has undergone extensive evaluation, including co-running Europe’s largest ambient-voice evaluation across 9 clinical sites and 17,000+ patients. Studies have shown significant improvements in productivity and patient-care time, such as a 13.4% increase in A&E productivity and 23.5% more direct patient-care time. It is also the first AVT to achieve UKCA Class IIa certification, highlighting its commitment to regulatory compliance and safety.
